Forms of Friendship

Some friendships are formed immediately

They may have common interests or goals that bind their souls to one another

Every day as luminescent as the glitter dropping from their laughter

They are so much the same, yet so very different

They can read minds, hearts, bodies, and souls at all times

Their souls ascending to another plane of friendship above the rest

No matter what city, country, continent, planet, solar system, galaxy, or universe, they will always find each other

And once their hands touch for the first time in years, it will be a momentous occasion

This friendship is an all-loving, all-powerful warrior born to spread laughter and kindness

|

Other friendships are not as intricately detailed

They may not share many moments together, yet they are similar

They are intelligent, graceful, and strong spoken, so what happened?

Why is this friendship not as perfectly woven?

It may be that both people are too quiet to have such a deep connection

Yet their connection is still as deep as their time spent together

This friendship is a fragile, wise, old lady who cherishes plenty of wisdom and similarities

|

Some friendships are quiet, yet still full of memorability

These friendships watch the petals of a cherry blossom fall from its tree

They share words with one another and these words are legendary

This friendship has grown closer with little words

Instead proximity and action uniting these souls

Sometimes it may feel as though friendship has died between them

But not every friendship begins with a bang

There may be a more quiet, croaky hush, which is much more amusing

This friendship is an awkward teen looking to discover itself while always finding solace

Always appreciating itself for who it is

|

Other friendships are full of doubt

This doubt screams as loud as a banshee, begging to be seen

This friendship had a strong foundation of the pillars of Ancient Greek temples

This friendship could even become something more, transforming into a beautiful butterfly

They can grow cold to the isolation of winter forcing their friendship to hibernate

But then you see the significance of this friendship – its solitude

We may talk and these talks will be memorable, but we may also sit still

Maybe our strong friendship is but an illusion, but until our words can escape the prisons of our mind

This friendship is an Angel that appears to have a few damaged wings

|

Some friendships are completely silly

There is no tension, no drama, no threat of disappearing

We bond over our universal love of comedy and unserious shenanigans

The two of us can say whatever we want as long as it is not something wrong

Best of all, we are not void of empathy and compassion

For those with the best laughs are the ones with the brightest smiles, genuine or not

We always lend a helping hand based on shared, unified experiences

Yet still ending the day by joking about things that may not be uttered

This friendship is a boisterous, bold jester who dares insult the king

|

Other friendships are plot twists

They may start out as bitter rivalries from the field of battle

These friends may begin as your foes that you so desperately want to get rid of

They may be meaner than a thousand wolves or more ignorant than a fool

Regardless, nothing could change your mind about this friend…

Except for this friend themself

People change and grow into beautiful shapes

Relinquishing old habits and beginning a new branch of who they are

Gladly, you can see the beauty of who they can become

You are soul brothers and sisters, bonded by skin and blood

This friendship is the deity of forgiveness, allowing all change to bypass its benevolent eye

|

Yet true friendships do not dissolve so easily

True friendships will always resurface after years of weathering and erosion

True friendships will always find time for one another in the day

True friendships will always find the resolve to forgive and become stronger

True friendships can never break

True friendships change and grow, not as friendships, but as individuals

Relationships change people and people change relationships
