The light in the dark

That is what I will be for you

Whether I am the light that guides you out of the dark depths of reality’s cruel battles

Or I am the darkness that calms you down when your light is too bright to bear

No matter where you are, where you come from, why you’re here

Who you were, are, and want to be

Everyone needs someone to lift them up

Everyone needs someone to make them smile

Everyone needs someone to be by their side

Without that special someone, or any someone

How will you celebrate your successes and cry over your defeats?

How will you ever enjoy yourself or satisfy your boredom?

When will life have meaning if not with other people?

No matter what happens

I will be the ocean to your stars and wave at you every night

Or I can be the stars and shine down on you

I will be the river and you can be the fish, guiding you down the right path

Or I will be the fish, and I will follow you whenever you need me most

I will be the sugar and you can be the spice

We balance each other out

Always there to brighten your day, I will be the sun coming after your rain

Or I will be the rain and I will make your world flourish with nature

I will be the dog to your cat, always ready for a good time with you

Or I can be the cat and I will listen to whatever you tell me

When you are having a good day and the world has smiled upon you

I will smile back at you

I will always lend an ear or a hand when you need one

The same way you will do for me

Even if no one else will help, that doesn’t mean I don’t have to

We can talk for hours, play for days, sing for months, travel for years

As long as we are together

When the day was okay, I will make it better

I will make milk squirt out of your nose

I will tickle you pink in more ways than one

Or we can sit down and relax under the tree’s shade

For it is fun even when we do nothing

As long as I’m with you, my inner radiance will shine

When you had a bad day, or even a terrible day

I may not always make it better, but I will try my hardest

I will turn into a shoulder to cry on

I will be the rock for you to punch when you’re seeing red

I will complain alongside you when you see green with envy

I will cover you like the blanket I am when you’re a fearful child

And I expect nothing but the same

In the highest mountains and the lowest valleys

In the lightest clouds and the deepest areas of the ocean

In the greenest springs and the reddest falls

In the hottest summers and the coldest winters

In the wettest swamps and the dryest deserts

In the scariest nightmares and the loveliest daydreams

In the richest kingdoms and the poorest villages

In the brightest days and the darkest nights
