Words Of a Feather

Waterfalls will always pour, no matter what you do

If there’s extra rain, the water will come down stronger

A big, cold splash, perfect for the warm, breezy summer

Sometimes the rainfall makes sense; this is the right time for rain

Other times, it will be the wrong time

The villagers grow annoyed with how much water their is

What do they do?

Do they nurture it? Do they try to help the waterfall collect less rain? No

They will simply create a huge dam, blocking all of the water out

The dam only blocks the feelings of the waterfall, so big and proud

“Why do I take in so much rain?” The waterfall will ponder

“Why can no one protect me from the rain?” The waterfall will query

Whenever rain comes, the waterfall will try to use the dam

But it was never taught to stop the flow of the water, so it keeps flowing

And soon enough, the villagers assume it’s overflowing for no reason

They offer to tend to the waterfall, but the waterfall will not want their help

It can no longer recognize how much rain is too much

It can no longer recognize the need for care
