Out of Sight

You are in a sunny, breezy meadow

The dandelions giggle as your feet stroke past them

The sun marks a new day, but also a new chance at hope

A new opportunity to make the most of your life

The clear, blue skies surround you

Reminding you of the limitless possibilities of your life

The world can finally breathe, and so can you

You sit down at a dainty, white table in a petite, white chair

You and your friends sip a cup of tea

Gliding its way through your mouth, filling you with sensation

Once you finally achieve a moment of peace

|

At one end of this meadow is a door

Do not open the door

The door is shut for a reason

You may know what is behind the door

You may see many venomous insects and plants

Endangered and ill species alike

But these species are dangerous and may ruin the peace

Some flora and fauna cannot be saved, even if we do not know that yet

These beings are not worth the trouble

Please leave the door shut

|

Do not look at the door

Do not listen to the people at the door

Do not walk to the door

Do not grab the door knob

Do not open the door

|

If you take just a small, tiny peek, you will see that some of us are fine

Some of us wound up on the other side and don’t want to come out

We wouldn’t want to disturb the peace

We wouldn’t want to bore or annoy you

So we stay behind the door

Where our bodies tells a story of contentment

Yet our minds yearn for freedom
